What is Strefen and how can it help?
Strefen contains flurbiprofen, a pain‑relieving and anti‑inflammatory ingredient that helps reduce sore throat swelling and pain.
This means Strefen targets the source of your sore throat pain, helping relieve symptoms such as difficulty swallowing, throat pain and throat swelling.
Strefen can be used to help ease the pain caused by both bacterial and viral throat infections. Speak to a doctor/pharmacist if you're taking antibiotics. It helps relieve sore throat pain and swelling while the antibiotic gets to work.
In the UK, Strefen is a pharmacy‑only medicine, so you don’t need a prescription. Your pharmacist can recommend it to you, including through the Pharmacy First scheme.

Pharmacy First is an NHS service that lets you get treatment for sore throats and other common conditions directly from your local pharmacy, without needing a GP appointment or prescription.
